Corona Virus Outbreak

Following the end of a restricted summer season, the club remains closed for all but essential activities. Here is a word from our Chairman, Alan Taylor, summing up the season:

"After the spring lockdown we were fortunate to be able to maintain the green and carry out the spring renovation which allowed the club to move to a normal green cutting programme and open up the green in early June when the controls were relaxed. Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, a Covid secure rink booking procedure allowed well over 300 rink bookings to be made. This included singles and pairs matches and a pairs ladder competition as further scope for play was approved. A triples version of the NGL league was played and the season closed with a well supported pairs knockout competition. Unfortunately we were unable to open the clubhouse or the bar. The end of year autumn renovation was completed with the help of volunteers all working at 2 metre distancing but unfortunately without the tea break and bacon and egg baps that fell victim to the Covid restrictions."

"More than half of our bowling members used the green during this most difficult season and we look forward to a more normal season next year and hope to see all our members enjoying the game."

"Obviously the current restrictions have curtailed our winter social activities. We will, however, monitor changes to the tiered controls as we move towards next year and if they are relaxed over the next few months we will reassess the situation as an ongoing process and inform our members through the normal channels if this situation changes."

Members Approve Increase in Fees for 2020

At the club AGM in November, the Executive Committee proposed an increase of £5 to the annual membership fee. Members present at the meeting approved the increase and so club fees for 2020 will be £70. All other fees will stay the same as last season.

Committee Members

The club Executive and Bowling Committee members have been elected for 2020 with some changes from last year.

The club is managed and maintained by the Executive Committee while the Bowling Committee has responsibility for organising and participating in club matches and local and national competitions. Some posts are yet to be decided so as ever keep an eye on this page for further developments.

Club Shirts

We retain a limited number of coloured shirts in the clubhouse. Please ask any committee member if your size is available. Alternatively you can order direct from our suppliers, Zapcam Limited

Keeping up to date with club activities

Members will have noticed the digital information screen in the clubhouse entrance porch. Please let Trevor or Alan know if there is anything that you think would be useful on this screen.

Also two Google calendars are now maintained that will show all our club events and matches. The best way to access these services is via a calendar app on your 3G or 4G mobile devices (Android, iPhone, Microsoft). To do this the two calendar pages on this site have a button on the bottom right hand corner of the display which copies the calendar into your personal calendar.

The calendars will not replace our printed fixture cards or notices etc. This year again the fixture card will be produced from information in the calendar. The card will still be available as the main source of information on matches. It is hoped that using the new system will encourage more of our members to visit the club and support matches played on our green and social events held at the club.
